What are the Fallout expansions you can’t live without? There’s many to choose from, but this one is considered a must for fans.
Fallout 4 has plenty of mods to enhance your experience, some of which you might have already played.
However, as far as many fans are concerned, ‘Fallout: Tales from the Commonwealth’ is one that no one should skip.

On a Reddit thread about “essential” “quest based mods”, several users replied with ‘Tales from the Commonwealth’.
“’Tales from the Commonwealth’ is the closest to essential imo; everything else depends on what you’re looking for,” argued Drafonni.
Let's go back to where it all began in the Fallout 4 trailer
To which, another fan commented, “Agreed, Tales has been [an] essential part of my Fallout 4, everything about it just fits smoothly into the base game.”

Those comments, while evidence that the fandom relies heavily on playing the mod, don't explain why it’s such an important part of the experience.
Fortunately, another Redditor took the time to explain, should anyone be curious.
“The essential two are ‘Sim Settlements 2’ and ‘Tales from the Commonwealth’ [...] the latter does a fantastic job of adding a lot of side quests that I think many people expect to find in a Bethesda game,” said Sgtwhiskeyjack9105.
For the PlayStation gamers among you, be prepared to “cry in PlayStation” because mods are few and far between.

Blame Bethesda and Sony, not us.
Should the idea of mods not appeal, or you’re unfortunately one of those sobbing PS players, you can still find wonders in the vanilla world of Fallout 4. One such example is a well-hidden loot spot many easily miss.
Much like Skyrim, Fallout 4 has an expansive range of official and fan-made secrets to unearth and explore.
But if you’re unsure where to start on your journey – and you like mods – ‘Tales from the Commonwealth’ is the obvious choice.
