Fans of Fallout and BioShock should keep their eyes on an upcoming survival horror game which aims to turn the genre on its head.
If you enjoyed injecting random substances in BioShock and exploring a ruined world crawling with mutated creatures like in Fallout, then Serum is the one for you.
From one post-apocalyptic landscape to another. Check out which Fallout title you should play first below!
Set to release in Q2 of 2024, Serum is a “thrilling survival adventure” which sees players take on the role of a subhuman who must take regular doses of a mysterious serum in order to survive the post-apocalyptic landscape.

In typical survival horror fashion, and reminiscent of titles such as The Forest and Sons of the Forest, Serum will see you craft weapons and traps, harvest and create the serum using local fauna and flora and even brew extra serums that will act as buffs to base stats.
“Your life is at stake!” reads the official Steam synopsis. “The toxic fog obscures the dangers in an apocalyptic world where every second counts. A relentless timer on your arm decides between life and death.”
With time not on your side, you must find shelter and brew that serum if you wish to survive but with mutated creatures aware of your every move, it is far from an easy ride.
Whilst keeping a constant eye on your health, stamina and even the side effects of the serum, you must navigate a treacherous world that will see you hunt, gather and farm as well as find clues about past events that may just help you in the future.

Although Serum is not out just yet, a free playtest is now available to access on its Steam page. This will allow players to try before they buy and see if they can survive this thrilling adventure.
