The Elder Scrolls 6 can wait, Skyrim just got a huge new expansion 7 years in the making

This expansion is huge!

While we wait for The Elder Scrolls VI to grace us with its presence, this huge new Skyrim expansion should keep us busy.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is quite simply the gift that keeps on giving with its wave of popularity showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

It’s why Bethesda has ported Skyrim to every console generation since it was originally released in 2011.

It’s a good job that Skyrim remains so popular because despite being revealed at E3 2018, we still have no idea when The Elder Scrolls VI will be released, well, at least officially. It might be safe to assume that the next entry in the Elder Scrolls series could be a next-gen title.

Until that time arrives, largely thanks to the awesome modding community, Skyrim continues to be supported with a wealth of free content whether it’s bug fixes, visual and gameplay overhauls or brand-new story content.

One such mod is Olenveld created by F0RCEFI3LD, and it’s free to download now via NexusMods and is also playable on Xbox.

“Olenveld is a new lands mod, the size of a small DLC, bringing the lore location of Olenveld to Skyrim. It introduces a unique questline and an island recapturing system,” reads its description.

“This mod took approximately 3,000 hours of Creation Kit work, spread across nearly seven years of my life as a passionate hobby project."

The mod weighs in at a modest 817MB, so it’s not too much of a taxing download.

However, with it being a newly released mod, it’s likely to have some launch bugs, so it’s worth keeping that in mind.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. It’s also available at no extra cost with an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
