Classic military shooter Battlefield 3 gets a jaw-dropping remaster courtesy of its passionate fans and you can check it out now.
The Battlefield series has been around a year longer than Call of Duty, making its debut over two decades ago on the PC with Battlefield 1947 in 2002. Since that time, EA and Activision have gone toe-to-toe competing against one another to bring the best military shooter of its genre, well, mostly.

While the quality of each new release is subjective to the individual, Activision has been releasing a new Call of Duty game almost every year since 2003 with great commercial success. There was a time when the Battlefield series was once doing the same.

To say that Battlefield 2042, the last game of the series released in 2021 was a disaster, would be an understatement. Battlefield 2042 launched missing basic matchmaking features, server issues and boring map designs to name a few.
It might also be fair to say that Battlefield 2042 was such a disaster, that it nearly killed the franchise. This is why EA and DICE have to knock it out of the park with Battlefield 6, no exceptions.
At this time, we know that Battlefield 6 (currently its unofficial name) is releasing at some point, we just don't know when.
Thankfully, until that time arrives, we can still play some of the classic games in the series, such as Battlefield 3 which has been remastered by a talented group of modders. Best of all, it’s free to download right now.

The mod in question is ‘BF3: Reality’ which has not only had its visuals vastly improved, but also its gameplay and user interface have been tweaked to make it feel more modern as well as various quality-of-life improvements.
“BF3: Reality Mod is a BF3 modification with a focus on team play, communication and combined arms. It's set in the real world starting from the end of the Cold War to modern-day conflicts.” reads the description of the mod.
Sadly, as is the nature of most mods, ‘BF3: Reality’ is a PC exclusive and not available on consoles.
