It is hard to believe that it has been almost thirty years since The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was first released but now thanks to one fan, we can play it in Unreal Engine 5 for the first time.
First released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64 before receiving an “enhanced version” for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is widely regarded as one of the best entries in the much-loved series.

So much so, that it is hard to believe that it has not yet received a full remake for the Nintendo Switch.

However, with the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 expected to bring a whole lot more power, maybe we could see Ocarina of Time make the jump to a modern handheld.
For now, an official remake may not be on the cards but thanks to one Patreon user known as CryZENx, we can now dive into the 1998 entry made using Unreal Engine 5.
In an effort to remake the entirety of Ocarina of Time, CryZENx has been gradually releasing remastered levels and areas with enhanced visual upgrades.
Posting them over on their Patreon account, the levels are available to download for free and more recently, this includes the release of Dodongo's Cavern Dungeon.

Fixed at 30FPS, or even able to reach 60FPS, downloading this will allow players to dive into an iconic level of the game and see it as they have never seen it before.
Although the modern graphics and visuals look a bit different to the ones found on the original Nintendo 64, it is still an impressive feat and fans seem to agree.
“Pretty darn incredible dude,” read one comment on a Youtube video showcasing the new release.
“I come by to check out the progress every so often and right now I feel like it took such a huge jump from last time.

Love the tattered detail on Link's clothes, and the sound effects are fantastic. Visuals are outstanding as always too.
Still seems like there are kinks to work out but overall it's coming along beautifully. Super impressive.”
