The Legend of Zelda fans have taken to discussing what games in the series might arrive with the Nintendo Switch 2.
The Nintendo Switch 2 hasn't been officially revealed yet. However, we do know that it’s on the way after Nintendo confirmed it in typical fashion, not to mention all the rumoured leaks in recent weeks that have been making the social media rounds.

What we do know for sure is that the Nintendo Switch 2 (currently not its official name) will be backwards compatible supporting games from the current system which will include the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and much more.

Being a backwards-compatible system is great for video game preservation because it means that we can carry on playing games of the previous generation and we can sell our older consoles to raise funds taking comfort in knowing that we can still access our games on the new system.
However, as much as we love backwards compatibility, we, of course, cannot help but be excited about the prospect of what games the new Nintendo console will bring us, particularly when it comes to The Legend of Zelda franchise.
“What do you guys think the chances are of a new Zelda game releasing when the next Switch drops?” asked Bubba0609. “Perhaps even a remake/remaster of Twilight Princess, The Windwaker or even Ocarina of Time?

“Even if it’s not a game as big as Tears of the Kingdom, I hope they’d release a new Zelda game,” said peachybunniez. “But if they decided to do a port or remake of the older games you’ve mentioned, I would love it too.”
“I'm hoping for The Wind Waker. I never got to play it because we didn't have a GameCube, but now that we have one, The Wind Waker is a collector's item and is listed at collector's item prices. The cheapest I've seen is $80,” replied BackgroundNPC1213.
“I feel like we get one of two things. An update/re-release of Breath of the Wild and/or TOTK, that helps take advantage of the new hardware, maybe some bonus content, but functionally the same games,” suggests kamakeeg. “The other would be a new Twilight Princess/The Wind Waker HD."

“Don’t get your hopes up,” said a blunt Molduking, hoping to lower everyone's expectations.
Now that we’ve entered 2025, with a bit of luck, Nintendo will officially reveal the Switch successor sooner rather than later along with all its launch games. We’ll keep you posted when that happens.
