I’m not confident that the next The Legend of Zelda 3D instalment will arrive any time soon.
It would be lovely to be wrong and to have a new game announced during April’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct.
The only problem is that there was a six year gap between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, and Tears of the Kingdom is only two-years-old, so it all just feels a tad premature to start pondering what’s next.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that something akin to last year’s Echoes of Wisdom won’t land, or we could see older titles remade or remastered.
It’s widely believed that both BOTW and TOTK will be remastered for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Are there any particular remakes you’d like to see? Personally, I’m itching for a Wind Waker remake.
We may not know what Nintendo has in store, but I can direct your attention to something fun in the meantime.

Echoes of Wisdom is a delightful game if you haven’t picked it up already.
Youtuber Lloyd Empty previously imagined what NES game The Legend of Zelda might look like remade in Unreal Engine, using FMOD, Blender, and Gimp - and I have to say, the results are stunning.
Lloyd hasn’t remade the full game, but has posted several snippets to his YouTube channel that chart his journey.

“Of course, it's not perfect,” he wrote. “But with time, it's possible to achieve a fairly professional result. Enjoy this re-imagining of The Legend of Zelda: NES inspired by the Nintendo Switch remake of Link's Awakening.”
You can take a look at the fan remake for yourself below.
I’m not the only one who’s impressed.

“How has Nintendo not already done this? This game would fly off the shelves for the nostalgia alone,” wrote commenter MobilityMaster.
“This is the BEST use of Unreal Engine in a long time. This is so cool,” added MichaelSlay-kp3mq.
User leynermendoza1456 simply declared, “I want this now.”
Who knows? Perhaps Nintendo has something like this up its sleeve. I’m certainly hoping so.
