The Legend of Zelda fans are hyped following a recent tease that has us all excited for the franchise's next big new release.
Without question, The Legend of Zelda series is one of the most iconic brands in video game history, ever since it made its debut on Nintendo’s NES in 1986. Over the years, we’ve been treated to a plethora of sequels and spin-offs that will continue to keep us entertained for generations to come.
What’s more, this iconic series has given us so many bangers over the years that we could debate all day as to which game is the best. However, one game that many might consider the best is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, released on the N64 in 1998 and earned a 99 Metacritic score.
Speaking of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, rumours have recently been making the rounds that Nintendo is considering a full remake from the ground up for the Nintendo Switch 2. However, before that remake does or doesn't grace us with its presence, we have a live-action movie to look forward to.
In November 2023, we first learned that the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie was in the works, before it was officially announced with a release date in March 2026. Not long after, the casting for Link and Princess Zelda was revealed.

However, The Legend of Zelda movie was delayed a little, pushing it back to 7 May 2027 and as of yesterday (assuming it doesn't get delayed again), we can all take comfort that this time next year, we’ll be sitting in cinemas watching the movie with a bucket of popcorn.
“The Legend of Zelda live action movie releases in exactly one year in theatres,” teased The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest host, Geoff Keighley. Naturally, fans on Reddit are also hyped with the release just one year away.
“I'm still praying that this will be good,” declared hopeful Redditor, Thegoodgamer32.
“Please be a good movie. I will watch this movie from day one. Even if I have to skip my class,” pleaded DrTilki.
“I am hopeful, honestly,” said Super7500.
“I have high hopes for this film. From what’s been officially shown, along with some leaked images, this is shaping up to be really good,” replied GuyNamedNoah.
“I'm not expecting a masterpiece, but I still think it will be a fun movie. The director seems to be a fan of the series and has a history with mixing live-action with CGI effects, so hopefully it will be a well put-together experience too,” explained PizzaPieInMyEye.
Fingers crossed, The Legend of Zelda movie knocks it out of the park.
