This week saw The Pokémon Company host its Pokémon Presents livestream and despite the event being met with mixed reviews, it is the news that has followed that has got fans excited.
That is because The Pokémon Company has revealed that its Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is receiving an update later this month and it will be centered around some of everybody’s favourite Generation 2 monsters.
Set to go live on 29 July at 11 p.m. PDT / Wednesday, July 30 2 a.m. EDT, the Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion will not only introduce some never-before-seen monsters in the card game but it will also come alongside some much-needed changes.
As for the legendary monsters, the pack will introduce Lugia and Ho-Oh as well as starters such as Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile.

On top of this, there will be appearances from Red Gyarados as well as trainer Silver and even Pichu and Cleffa cards.
So there is a lot to be added in this brand-new expansion.
Pokémon TCG Pocket is no stranger to regular updates with fans often calling for their favourite Pokémon and their evolutions to be added.
Luckily, it seems as though the Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion aims to continue this trend by having Lugia and Ho-Oh head their very own booster packs which contain over 200 new cards.

According to the official press release, “in this expansion, Pokémon with attacks that don’t require Energy will also debut, allowing Trainers to test new strategies for deck building and battling” and to go alongside this, there is a brand-new trailer which showcases just this.
Last but not least, the following features are also being implemented from 30 July, 2025, at 06:00 UTC onwards:
“Revisions to Trade Feature: Trade tokens will be discontinued, and players will no longer need to exchange cards to obtain the currency required for trading. However, shinedust will be required to trade cards of ♦♦♦, ♦♦♦♦ and ★ rarities.
Players can acquire shinedust by completing in-game missions and achievements or by obtaining duplicates of cards they already own. Players can exchange trade tokens they own for pack hourglasses and shinedust in the in-game shop.
