Pokémon fans rejoice, we're headed back to Kanto for new release

...and, of course, some folks are mad about that

We’re heading back to the days of Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow with this latest official release, but (as always) some fans aren’t too thrilled with The Pokémon Company’s obsession with the Kanto generation.

That’s right folks, it’s everyone’s favourite time of the year: more Pokémon Gen 1 stuff!

That’s because, as revealed on the official Razer Twitter account, there’s some new Kanto-themed Pokémon hardware up for grabs.

First up, you've got the star of the show: the Razer BlackWidow V4 X mechanical keyboard.

But you can also grab a Razer Kraken V4 X headset, a Razer Cobra mouse, and even the Razer Gigantus V2 mousemat– all of which are adorned with either Pikachu, Charmander, Bulbasaur or Squirtle (or a mix of the four).

Personally, they’re not for me. No offence to whoever designed these, they just look a bit to loud for my taste. Some of the folks in the comments are excited, at least.

“I was overjoyed and couldn't believe the good news..!! Kawaii!!” commented user @umesyu_u3.

“spectacular, i'll take 9”, replied user @portilho.

However, just as many (if not more, honestly) people are annoyed that The Pokémon Company and Razer are choosing to produce merch based on the Kanto region.

From what I can tell based on the comments, it’s not that people want them to design products for one specific generation of Pokémon games, but rather that everyone is just bored of them focusing on Gen 1 stuff all of the time.

And now that I think about it, yeah, they are kind of onto something there.

Most of the big collabs The Pokémon Company do seem to be centred solely around the first three starters and, of course, Pikachu. But what percentage of fans consider Pikachu their favourite Pokémon?

Just saying man, I think some of us would like to see some Gen 2 collabs every now and again.
