Nintendo Switch gamers treated to free download you can grab now

Perfect for RPG fans

We’re all very much focused on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, but we’re not due to find out more about that console until the upcoming Nintendo Direct on 2 April.

In the meantime, there’s still plenty of fun to be had on the original Nintendo Switch.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD has just secured a respectable Metacritic score of 77, and Hello Kitty Island Adventure, Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, and Tales of the Shire are just a few of the titles that Nintendo Switch users can look forward to getting their hands on soon.

If it’s imminent entertainment you seek, you may want to venture over to the Nintendo eShop as it’s just welcomed a brand new demo - and no, you don’t need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to access this one.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero’s demo is free to download and sample now, perfect for those of you who enjoy RPGs.

ICYMI: Take a look at the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 below.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is due to release on 30 March, so this demo has launched with ample time for you to give it a go and decide whether the full game is for you.

The game classes itself as a strategy RPG, although it does feature adventure elements too.

“Join Marona - a gifted young girl with the power to speak to Phantoms - as she traverses the ocean world of Ivoire, providing aid to those in need,” the synopsis teases.

“When a fleet of ghost ships attack, it’s up to Marona and her new friend Apricot to assemble the legendary crew that once defeated these spectral foes. Recruit Phantoms, bind them to objects, combine them with Gadgets, and even merge them with Marona herself to unleash show-stopping abilities and sink the Shipwreck Fleet!”

Sounds pretty fun, right?

In the demo, you’ll be able to sample the first two chapters of the game with all progress carrying over should you end up purchasing the full release.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is actually a sequel to 2004’s Phantom Brave but given the immense gap between installments, I’m imagining developer Nippon Ichi Software will recap events to aid those hopping into the franchise for the first time.

It isn’t simply Nintendo users who can enjoy this one, as the demo has also launched on PlayStation and Steam.
