Nintendo Switch 2 set to welcome several Xbox games, Phil Spencer teases

Nintendo Switch 2 set to welcome several Xbox games, Phil Spencer teases

The partnership is strong

Throughout 2024, Xbox seemed to begin looking to other platforms, eyeing cross-platform releases to build a bigger and more robust audience.

With the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2, many began wondering if we’d see some Xbox classics making the jump to Nintendo’s newest hardware.

Seeing Xbox classics on the Nintendo Switch 2 will be a welcome surprise.

That may not be out of the realms of possibility, according to the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer.

In an interview with Gamertag Radio, Spencer said that Microsoft was “really looking forward” to supporting the Switch 2 with Xbox games.

In reaction to the Nintendo reveal, Spencer applauded the company, saying, “Nintendo and their innovation, what they mean in this industry, I just always applaud the moves that they make.”

He continued, “They are just masterful in what they do. Switch is a massive success. And I think Switch 2 will be as well.”

With the recent marketing push from Xbox that states anything can be an Xbox, it seems obvious they will start to support other hardware.

Recent rumours suggest Halo: Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will come to the Nintendo console.

It will be an unprecedented move to see Xbox legacy characters and franchises jump over to any other platform, beyond PC.

Being able to play games like Halo or Gears of War on Nintendo hardware is something I never thought I’d see.

Of course, for now, this is speculation and rumour, but with Spencer saying that he’d like to support the console, it seems certain we’ll see something announced this year.

Not only is this a smart move for Xbox, it’s a huge boon for Nintendo.

For the millions of Switch owners who haven’t played these Xbox classics, it’s a great chance to catch up on some bangers.

Keep your eyes peeled for more news on this as we get closer to the Nintendo Direct in April.
