It’s hard to believe but it’s almost time to say goodbye to the Nintendo Switch.
Back in May, Nintendo took to social media to announce that the Switch’s successor would be revealed by the end of the fiscal year.
“This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year,” a tweet read.
Advert
“It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015.”
If you’re not aware, fiscal years run from April meaning that the company’s new console should be announced in the next six months.
Of course, we won’t truly be saying goodbye to the Nintendo Switch.
Many people won’t upgrade their consoles immediately and as such, I’m imagining that Nintendo will continue to produce and support the Switch for quite some time.

That being said, so too will others be chomping at the bit to get their hands on Nintendo’s next-gen experience.
We’re totally in the dark as to when that reveal might be coming beyond the fact that it’s due in the next six months, although Nintendo fans have come up with a rather interesting theory.
Pokémon Legends Z-A is due out in 2025 and will reportedly be a Switch successor launch title.
In a recent tweet promoting the upcoming Mario & Luigi: Brothership, Nintendo wrote, “10/10 landing”.

This is clearly a joke about Luigi’s landing attempt viewable in the attached clip but some think a secret message is hidden within the caption.
The going theory is that 10/10 is hinting that the reveal of the Nintendo Switch’s successor is coming on 10 October.
I somewhat like the theory, but I also know that Nintendo plays things pretty by the book and I’m doubtful as to whether they’d drop such an obvious hint.

To play devil’s advocate though, we are in what I’d call the danger zone.
Nintendo may have only confirmed that a reveal is coming by April 2025 but many insiders also put the console’s release date in early 2025.
If that’s true, the console will need to be unveiled sooner rather than later.
For now, we’ll have to remain patient, but seemingly not for very much longer.
