The Nintendo Switch 2 may have officially been announced, but that doesn’t mean that the rumour mill suddenly stops.

Shared on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, user uniquecartridge detailed a 4Chan discussion that mentions Super Smash Bros 6 being in development.
As the OP themself admits, this is “probably totally fake”, however, they felt it was worth sharing on the off chance it turns out to be legitimate.
The Nintendo Switch 2 looks sleek, don't you think?
Before we get into the specifics of the supposed upcoming title, it’s interesting to note that the thread the OP linked to has now been archived.

Super Smash Bros 6 is said to be “slated for summer 2026”. Furthermore, it’ll see the return of the “full roster” of characters, some of which have had their moveset altered.
Another claim is that trophies will return, this time with “detailed descriptions”. Players will win them by “completing missions, doing Arcade mode and other random tasks”, as per the rumour.
“Hella fake,” responded CalekAlbion, before adding, “but prove me wrong Nintendo, you cowards.”
To this, the OP admitted they’re not a big fan of Smash Bros and therefore don't know what elements of this rumour seem too good to be true.

According to those well versed in the series, it’s the “return of trophies”, to name but one factor, that makes this unbelievable.
“I would say the return of trophies, the return of Subspace-style cutscenes, and the addition of Waluigi as playable make this super fake,” explained DJDrop.
Other fans cite the mention of a full roster as the reason this is fake.
Naturally, without Nintendo’s confirmation, we can’t say one way or the other if this rumour has a semblance of truth or not.
