The Nintendo Switch 2 will offer more than a revised design and better games, it’ll also be a substantial boost in performance.
Good thing too as the rumoured price of the console is comparable to the latest Xbox and PlayStation consoles, so it needs to work extra hard to be worthy of that pricepoint.
Take a look at Nintendo’s announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 below
When Nintendo unveiled its next home console we got to see the new design, the joycons and even glimpses of Mario Kart 9 being played in the background.

What we didn’t get is a list of specs, but perhaps that’s something Nintendo will be willing to share during its upcoming Nintendo Direct later this year.
That said, supposed leaks have already given us those specs, and they’ve been broken down by experts to see just how much of an upgrade this new system is.
According to Digital Foundry, the Nintendo Switch 2 will feature an 8nm chip, and the GPU clock speed will be 561 MHz in handheld mode, going all the way up to 10007.25 MHz when it’s in the dock.
It’s also said the CPU will be capable of 1100.8 MHz handheld mode and 998.4 MHz when it’s docked.

Now if none of that made any sense to you that’s fine, just know it’s a considerable upgrade from the Nintendo Switch which is obviously a good thing.
The real test of power will be the open-world games the Nintendo Switch was known for, like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild which is rumoured to be getting remastered for the Switch 2.
There are also the new Pokémon games on the way, with many fans hoping for less performance issues this time around.
The Nintendo Switch 2 has given us a lot to think about, and even more to be excited for if it’s as good as we think it is.
