Nintendo Switch 2's first major RPG seemingly confirmed in job listing

Nintendo Switch 2's first major RPG seemingly confirmed in job listing

This must be for the Nintendo Switch 2

A job listing has been spotted that may be pointing to the first big RPG for Nintendo’s upcoming, but not officially confirmed, Switch 2.

As posted on Reddit, signs are pointing to Monolith Soft, frequent Nintendo collaborators, hiring for a new RPG.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is another upcoming title for Nintendo Switch.

The job post was listed in Japanese but it has been translated for ease. Among the lengthy listing is the sentence, “A new RPG brought to you by General Director Tetsuya Takahashi – we are looking for staff to help us create the world.”

Monolith Soft is responsible for the Xenogear and Xenoblade series, the latter of which has had three entries on the Nintendo Switch.

While the post doesn’t specifically mention the Nintendo Switch 2, it does mention that the game will introduce “new challenges” which might point to creating the game for new hardware.

Of course, at this point, everything is shielded with secrecy, so we can only speculate, and much of this can be taken with a pinch of salt.

However, we do know that Nintendo has a new console waiting in the wings and surely when the right moment comes along we’ll get to see it unveiled.

This means that software is being created right now and we will see these titles come to the hardware when it finally debuts.

While many Xenoblade fans will be getting their hopes up, it’s not clear if this is a continuation of the series.

Takahashi goes on to say Monolith Soft is looking for expertise in “the [open world] field, battle, characters, quests, and story.”

The game is clearly in preproduction and hopefully, we will hear more about it as the months pass.

Another big RPG on the way is great for fans of the genre, and if it debuts for the Switch 2, then it only gets better.
