Another day, another Switch 2 rumour. Sadly, the official unveiling from Nintendo didn’t do much to quell the constant chatter about the hotly anticipated console.
The latest rumour comes from Hong Kong, where retailers are commenting on the console, saying it won’t receive a preorder window, and Nintendo will just launch it directly to the public.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be with us this year
Personally, I can’t see this happening as it will alienate a lot of players who will need to see a price and secure the money before making a big purchase.

However, an instant release, after the Direct airs in April, could deter scalpers to some extent.
According to one Twitter source, the proposed dates for release are 3 April, 10 April, 17 April, or 24 April.
As one Twitter user said, “There’s no way they would just drop it after the direct. It would be total and utter pandemonium.”
We can’t discount the rumour outright, but I would advise caution, or at least take this news with a large pinch of salt.

Another Nintendo fan is in agreement, saying, “Nintendo just DROPPING their new console right after the Direct is so improbable, but I guess stranger things have happened.”
Nintendo is not one to follow the crowd and dropping the console quickly is definitely one way to stand out, but it could cause chaos.
After all, scalpers have the money and the means to hoover up the stock, whether it’s a preorder or a full release.
We don’t have long to wait until we find out more, as the Nintendo Direct will air on 2 April and should bring us details on pricing and launch, along with a better look at the specs of the console.

The new hardware has been highly anticipated for many months as speculation run rampant before leaks forced the hand of Nintendo to show the console to the world.
