First released back in 2017, the Nintendo Switch has gone on to become the home of some hit titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet to name a few.
However, with the handheld coming to the end of its lifespan, attention has seemingly turned to the Nintendo Switch 2 but a recent report is bad news for eager fans.
This news comes courtesy of a comment made by Games Industry journalist Christopher Dring on a recent podcast.
After speaking to multiple Nintendo developers, he says we should not expect the Nintendo Switch 2 this financial year.

However, the sources he spoke to said we can look forward to it in April or May of 2025.
“..The second one is that no developer I’ve spoken to expects it to launch in this financial year, in fact they’ve been told not to expect it in this financial year,” he said.
“A bunch of people I spoke to hope it’s out in April/May time, still early next year, not late..”
As for what we can expect from the new piece of hardware, a recent leak reveals that the Nintendo Switch 2 will run like a dream.

This is due to increased RAM and storage space as well as the news that games will be able to hit 120fps thanks to the handheld’s refresh rate of 120Hz.
With the Nintendo Switch OLED already offering significant improvements, we can be readily assured that its successor will be even more of an upgrade.
Hopefully it won’t be long before we get our hands on it and, more importantly, learn which games will be making their debut on it.
