Gamers have been left concerned and angry over Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order delays, as well as the looming possibility that the console could cost more than originally confirmed.
In a statement given to GameSpot's Tamoor Hussain yesterday, Nintendo confirmed pre-orders for the Switch 2 in US, originally planned for 9 April, have been delayed indefinitely "in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions".
At the time of writing Nintendo has not delayed Switch 2 pre-orders anywhere else. The console is also still expected to release in the US on 5 June as originally announced.

US president Donald Trump announced a number of trade tariffs this week set to have an impact on a wide range of countries, businesses, and manufacturers throughout the world.
Entertainment Software Association (ESA) senior vice president Aubrey Quinn has already warned (via Game File) that these tariffs are set to "have a real and detrimental impact" on the games industry.
Industry analyst Daniel Ahmad also warned (via Eurogamer): "While [Nintendo] has shifted some of its manufacturing to Vietnam to offset US tariffs on China, the looming threat of reciprocal tariffs prior to the Switch 2 showcase will have also forced Nintendo to consider a higher price for the rest of the world. The reciprocal tariffs on Vietnam and Japan have come in higher than expected, and Nintendo will feel the impact of this if the tariffs go into full effect."
The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to cost $449 in the US, but with the pre-order delays fans have been left angry and convinced the price could increase further before Nintendo makes the console available to purchase.

"So are they gonna increase the price before allowing preorders?" one fan asked on Reddit.
Another responded: "There'd be no other reason to delay pre-orders while also keeping the same release date."
The majority of gamers seem to have directed their anger towards Trump and his tariffs, rather than at Nintendo.
"They don't have a choice really," one fan reasoned. "Trump is effectively the one raising the price."

Another writes: "The final cost is going to make this an unjustifiable purchase for the foreseeable future, isn’t it? Tired of living like this just because unspectacular losers think they’re 'owed'."
It remains to be seen how this situation will resolve. For now, we hope for the best - and maybe start putting away a little more into the Switch 2 fund just in case, if you can.
