We’ve known for a long while now, thanks to a few design leaks and some insider knowledge from third-party peripheral manufacturers, that the Nintendo Switch 2 has a mysterious new button that the original console lacked.
However, thanks to (of course) a brand new leak, we may finally actually know what the button does.
In case you missed it, the Nintendo Switch 2’s whole design got leaked - and the images we’ve seen all feature a tiny little square-shaped “C” button.

There’s been a lot of theories knocking around as to the C button’s function. What does it stand for? Capture? Control? Califragilisticexpialidocious?
Well, according to one leaker over on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, it actually stands for… “Campus”.
“Datamines of the current Switch OS and exclusive SDK leaks have confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will have Group Chat and Voice Chat functionality codenamed 'Campus'. This is what the C button may be for (unconfirmed, but I'm 99,99% sure.),” they stated.
Pokémon Legends Z-A launches in Nintendo Switch systems this year.
“Groups will support up to 12 NSO subscribers. There will be screen sharing! Nothing like Miiverse. Vidmiio isn't real. Feel free not to believe this, of course. But mark my words: it will be official in 48 hours!”

According to the poster, this leak comes from the “admins from the Switch 2 Discord server”. Said admins have actually been pretty spot on with a lot of the recent Nintendo Switch 2 leaks, so I’m inclined to believe them on this one.
And, frankly, it sort of just makes too much sense for it not to be true. While the “Campus” name is a bit of a surprise, the fact that its primary function is to capture gameplay footage is what most of us had assumed this whole time.
But, just like they said, we’ll know for sure this time tomorrow when Nintendo is supposedly set to officially reveal the Nintendo Switch 2.
