With the Nintendo Switch 2 coming later this year, players are checking their savings and estimating how much they’ll need for launch day.
While the official price still hasn’t been mentioned by Nintendo, some rumours are swirling that it could end up being priced between $399 and $449.
The pricing for the Nintendo Switch 2 is still unannounced
This is a rumour circulating on Reddit, but one thing needs to be taken into account, the Trump administration.

As mentioned in that Reddit thread, and across social media, President Trump’s stance on tariffs could lead to more expensive technology and this would include video games.
Taking to social media, Circana analyst Mat Piscatella notes that he could see a “sharp downtick” in physical media.
His opinion focused on the technology that comes out of Mexico, however, Donald Trump has mentioned tariff increases for items imported from Asia, too.
This could have a knock-on effect on the Nintendo Switch 2, meaning U.S. players might end up paying more.

At this point, it’s all speculation - Trump’s plans aren’t likely to take effect for some time - however, it’s worth keeping in mind that the landscape is changing.
While Piscatella mentioned that U.S. companies could pull out of places like Mexico to combat the changes, it would be impossible for Asian publishers to avoid an increase in tariffs.
Once Nintendo has officially announced the pricing, we’ll see if anything fluctuates for the American market.
Until then, players will keep on guessing on how much a Nintendo Switch 2 could cost.

Though one Reddit user is happy to pay anything, saying, “Whatever the price, just take my money already. The last console has lasted me 8 years. Money well spent.”
All of us are counting down the days until Nintendo spills the beans, and we’re taking bets (don’t gamble, honestly) on where the price will fall.
