One of the most gorgeous The Legend of Zelda games is now more stunning than ever thanks to this modern 4K remaster that we can download right now.
I remember all the discourse surrounding The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker when it was first released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2003 (2002 for Japan). The gameplay looked fun, it had that certain Zelda charm, but at the time a lot of gamers were angry about its cel-shaded visuals.

I get that some people don't like change (and that includes me) and that appearance is subjective, but I struggled to understand how many couldn't see how gorgeous The Wind Waker was and still is to this very day.

At the time I was thinking, if this was a brand new video game not related to The Legend of Zelda in any way, would gamers be as unhappy with how the game looks? Of course, we can only speculate. While The Wind Waker benefited from an HD remaster for the Wii U in 2013, fans of the series would love nothing more than to see another modern remaster, this time on the Nintendo Switch. However, perhaps the Switch 2 is the most likely destination now.
Whether we’ll eventually get a new remaster remains to be seen. Until then, modder and YouTuber, Henriko Magnifico, has taken matters into their own hands by doing the work of the gaming gods.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is playable on PC unofficially thanks to emulation. Despite Nintendo probably not appreciating PC emulation all that much, it means that more players get to play amazing games and it leaves the door open for incredible mods.

Even if you were to play the original The Wind Waker on GameCube today, you’ll find that it’s aged like a fine wine. But thanks to this incredible 4K texture pack, it has simply never looked better. Best of all, you can download it right now.
Details on how to access the mod can be found in the description section of Henriko Magnifico’s ‘The Wind Waker 4K Texture Pack’ trailer.
