Elden Ring ported to Nintendo console, but not the one you'd expect

Elden Ring is running on what now?

Elden Ring by FromSoftware is hands down one of the best games from the developer and that’s saying something considering it’s brought us the likes of Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and more.

Released in February 2022, FromSoftware’s Elden Ring was met with critical acclaim across the board from fans and the media alike. It’s also one of the most accessible games from the developer with players being able to call in help at almost any point against the game's most challenging enemies, of which there are plenty.

In our 10/10 review of Elden Ring, GAMINGbible’s Ewan Moore said: “Elden Ring is a constantly surprising adventure that has taken FromSoftware’s tried-and-tested formula to delirious new heights. One of the best video games of the last decade, and an absolutely essential release, Elden Ring really does confirm that 2022 is off to an incredible start.”

Available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, it doesn't matter which platform you play Elden Ring on, you’ll experience one of the most fulfilling games there ever was and when the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is released, expect the 2022 launch hype to return once more.

Sadly, due to the technical demands of Elden Ring, this awesome open-world RPG is never likely to be playable on Nintendo Switch, which shouldn't come as a surprise. However, what may come as a surprise, is that someone has managed to get Elden Ring running on a Nintendo 3DS, we kid you not!

“Does anyone know why Morgott was frozen here?” teased a Reddit user revealing footage of what looks to be the fight against Morgott the Omen King, one of the most challenging encounters in the game.

Wondering what everyone was thinking, hubchie asked “How are you playing that on a 3DS system?” to which the original poster on the thread joked “I couldn’t afford a PS4, so I improvised.”

“You don't have the 3D function turned on, that glitches the boss,” replied a sarcastic GregenOfficial. “Shadow of the Erdtree will only be available on the New 3DS,” said KeaboUltra. The poster on the thread said that Elden Ring on the 3DS runs at an unideal 24fps, but like seriously, Elden Ring is running on a 3DS, at this point, framerates barely count it as unideal.

It was later confirmed by the original Reddit poster that Elden Ring running on the Nintendo 3DS was achieved playing on a modding console with custom firmware on the SD card using software called Pinbox. Elden Ring is available now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, but not the Nintendo 3DS, unfortunately.
