Ubisoft's next open world Assassin's Creed game, Assassin's Creed Red, is due to release later this year, though the developer is yet to share an exact release date, and a first-look at its gameplay. Like any upcoming AAA release, rumours and leaks are all over the place. One such leak has supposedly shared details on Assassin's Creed Red's story mode, as well as some of the supernatural elements that could appear in the game.

The first part of the leak states the game will be split 60/40 between the two protagonists. One will be a male samurai based on a real-life historical figure, and the other will be a female shinobi. The samurai segments will have a focus on combat whereas the shinobi will focus more on stealth. It's also said the female character will receive a DLC expansion eventually.
Additionally the leak also shed some light on the supernatural side of the game. Recent Assassin's Creed games have leaned more into cultural folklore and mythology, best exemplified through the Assassin's Creed Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla, all of which featured gods and monsters in its story/DLC. Assassin's Creed Red will reportedly feature yokai, Japanese spirits that can take many forms depending on the tale.
Obviously fans should take all of this information with a pinch of salt, at least until Ubisoft confirms it with the next trailer.

All in all Assassin's Creed Red is shaping up to be an incredible next entry in the Assassin’s Creed series, and one fans should definitely keep an eye out for.
