If you’ve been waiting – and praying – for confirmation that the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes are finally in development, this is that verification.
A recent tease about the Max Payne remakes got us more hyped than we thought possible, thanks to some of the GAMINGbible team chatting with Sam Lake.
But our hunger still wasn’t sated.

What does it take to become Max Payne?
We craved more, and as if answered by the gaming gods themselves, we’ve received what we’ve been waiting for.
According to Twitter user @videotechuk_, Remedy Games has revealed that the remakes will enter “full production” by “the end of summer 2024”.

In that same post, the same insider also said, “The studio also announced a development budget increase due to higher costs which is financed by Rockstar Games.”
With any substantial news like this, amidst the excitement lurks concern: what if the developers get it wrong...?
“I really hope it's not a GTA Trilogy flop again,” one fan posted. “They [the devs] need to invest in making this look as amazing as possible. People have been wanting this for a very long time and will pay for it too.”
The status quo is that loyalty remains only as long as fans are satisfied; once that goes, all hell breaks loose. We’ve seen it happen before.
There’s also the question of who will voice Max Payne; James McCaffrey died in 2023, thus leaving a gaping hole to fill for anyone who attempts to claim the iconic video game character as their own.

“That’s the million dollar question I keep asking myself: who will take the reins being the voice of Max himself. If they do choose someone else, they got a gigantic amount of shoes and responsibilities to fill,” commented another fan.
Who will take on the role remains unknown. Still, at least we know that the remakes are happening, and that they’ll be in full development come the end of summer.
