An upcoming Marvel game starring Captain America and Black Panther teaming up during WW2 finally has a release window.

Titled Marvel's 1943: Rise of Hydra, the game will reportedly follow the two Marvel superheroes on a quest to bring down the tyranny of Hydra and its leader Red Skull.

Check out the story trailer for the game below

The trailer was shared during GDC, which is currently underway, and while it doesn’t feature any gameplay it does give us an idea as to what Cap and Black Panther will be getting up to on their team-up adventure.

Marvel’s official description for the game reads: “As the game’s narrative unfolds, players will assume the role of four central characters: a young Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America; Azzuri, T’Challa’s grandfather and the WWII-era Black Panther; Gabriel Jones, a US soldier and member of the Howling Commandos; and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded in Occupied Paris.”

While no gameplay was shown we can certainly speculate as to how the characters will play, as it seems there’ll be a mix of stealth and action segments, along with the occasional boss.

Captain America will likely be a bruiser, able to withstand a lot of damage and attack at range with his shield, whereas Black Panther has always been more acrobatic and even dabbled in energy attacks depending on the version of the character.

Interestingly it doesn’t seem like the pair will be buddies straight away, as the end of the trailer teases a confrontation between the two heroes, presumably not realising they’re on the same side.

It’s reported that Unreal Engine 5 was used to achieve the game’s stunning visual effects, with the project looking so good you could almost mistake it for one of the live-action Marvel films.

While a specific release date wasn’t given, it’s confirmed the game is planned to launch sometime in 2025.

Platforms haven’t been confirmed but it’ll likely launch for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
