Fallout 5 be damned, Fallout 4 just got a hefty new map expansion

Worth playing while you wait

Fallout 4 just got an eerie new map expansion, which turns the open-world survival game into a horror one.

It’s free-to-play right now, and a good way to kill some time while you wait for Fallout 5, which isn’t coming out for a long time by the way…

We haven’t even got a proper trailer for The Elder Scrolls VI yet, just this teaser

The Fallout 4 expansion is called Hunter’s Abyss, (Bloodborne ahh name) and you download it from NexusMods now.

The mod’s description reads: “Hunter's Abyss adds a new land in the southern part of the Glowing Sea, called the Abyss. A fracture in the land where radiation pours down and creatures are larger and more violent. Complete with new weapons, armour, magazines, player home, and settlement area.”

Sounds like a lot of fun, and it gives you more reason to explore the Glowing Sea aside from masochism.

Being able to build a new home in the abyss is an interesting addition, as I don’t know why you’d want to live in a radioactive fissure but for those that do, you’re covered.

It’s a shame Fallout 4 wasn’t expanded further with DLC like this, as Far Harbour was a nice addition albeit a bit barren, and Nuka World was also solid if not a bit small.

That said the game’s anniversary last year did yield new content, so perhaps if the wait for Fallout 5 persists we’ll get a little something off Bethesda to keep us going.

If not though there are plenty more mods like Hunter’s Abyss to keep you occupied, so it’s a good idea to check NexusMods regularly for expansions like it.

There are even entirely new games to play as well, such as major fan projects like Fallout: London, all of which are worth a go in their own right.
