Cyberpunk 2077 fans can finally learn what happened to Johnny Silverhand after his death at Arasaka Tower, and it’s something the game doesn’t actually tell you.
There’s a lot to learn in Cyberpunk 2077, and there are a lot of secrets hidden in its world, many of which can be uncovered through reading shards or playing certain side missions.
The star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Idris Elba, recently confirmed he’d love to return to the world of Cyberpunk one day, check out the full interview below

There is a side quest that takes you to where Johnny’s body gets dumped after his consciousness has been downloaded, but it turns out that’s not actually the end of the story.
According to the Cyberpunk RED story book, a tabletop game set in the same universe, a group of edgrunner’s were reportedly tasked with retrieving Johnny’s body from where it was hidden.
When the body is found and retrieved in the story the box it’s hidden in is opened to reveal the corpse as well as a mini-nuke, and it’s been theorised for a long time that this was in fact the real Johnny Silverhand.
This theory has since been confirmed by Cyberpunk’s creator Mike Pondsmith, who said it was in fact Johnny and it was originally planned to be a bigger part of the story in the spin-off Firestorm III: Aftershock before being adapted in Cyberpunk RED instead.

Of course this doesn’t quite sync up with the side story in Cyberpunk 2077, but if the series creator is saying that’s what happened then you can’t really argue with it.
Perhaps it’ll be explored in more detail in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, though it’ll be several years before we even get a glimpse of that follow-up.
