Assassin’s Creed fans in India could miss out on the upcoming Assassin’s Creed jade mobile game, following a potential ban.
During last month’s Ubisoft showcase, several Assassin’s Creed projects were revealed. The developer currently has 11 games in the pipeline for the series, like Assassin’s Creed Mirage which releases later this year for Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms. One of these titles is Assassin’s Creed Jade, an open-world mobile game that’ll transport the series to third-century BCE China.

A closed beta for the title launched today for invited participants, and an open beta will follow shortly after prior to the official release. However, it seems players in India may miss out on the game, due to it potentially being banned in their country.

This is due to the government of India banning Tencent Games, the parent company of Level Infinite, which is responsible for publishing Assassin’s Creed Jade worldwide. Given Tencent’s ban in India, it may be impossible for Level Infinite to bring the game to the country, meaning thousands will miss out.
The news came from the official Assassin’s Creed Jade Discord, where someone raised concerns about the ban and asked if people in India could be invited to the betas to play the game.
A moderator replied: “They could, since we did not restrict that country, but we found out that the Indian government banned Tencent, and won’t allow the download.”
We’re assuming that the download they’re referring to is the beta, but it could also imply the full game could never release in India as a result of the ban.

That being said, other Level Infinite games have been released in the country before, so there’s still hope.
Assassin’s Creed Jade doesn’t have a release date as of yet, but it’s aiming for an early 2024 release.
