Patrick Stewart Confirms 'Doctor Strange 2' Professor X Return

Following on from the trailer shown during the Super Bowl, the actor has finally confirmed that it was indeed his voice that we all heard.

So last month’s Super Bowl sure was interesting, huh? No, I’m not talking about the actual sports bit - I mean the new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer that was shown during it. Since it was shown, fans have been dissecting the entire thing basically frame by frame, attempting to spot secrets and hints, but one thing that stood out even before the more in-depth analysis began was the inclusion of Sir Patrick Stewart’s voice, strongly hinting that Charles Xavier would be making an appearance in the movie.

Previously, Stewart basically suggested he had absolutely nothing to do with this cameo, and that it must have been someone else impersonating him. Which, let’s face it, would be really bizarre. Well, as most fans probably suspected, it seems that there was a little more to it than just a bit of movie magic.

In case you missed it, be sure to check out the latest Doctor Strange 2 trailer below, and look out for Professor X's appearance.

As reported by Comicbook, during an interview with Jake’s Takes on YouTube, the actor was asked how he reacted to hearing the very familiar voice during the trailer: “I had my phone turned off as it happened, so I didn't hear anything. It wasn't until the next morning when I woke up and looked at my phone and found that I had been bombarded with responses,” he said. “My PR people had sent me reactions that they had detailed and passed onto me […] I actually didn't recognise my own voice. It sounded different. Whether I had a cold or something at the time, I don't know.”

So, there’s no denying it now then, it seems - it really was him that we all heard. He also gave his response to the hype shown by the fans who spotted his appearance: “I was astonished - and all they saw was the back of my shoulder and I think my earlobe, nothing else - that there would have been so many connections made. But it pleased me [to see the reactions].”

Despite all that, Professor X’s appearance in the movie still hasn’t been officially confirmed by Marvel, but it’s almost certainly only a matter of time. Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness will be out in cinemas on 6 May, so it’s just over two months to go now.
