Overwatch 2 support mains have been dubbed the ‘worst kind of player’ by fans of the franchise which is a sentence that just garnered a horrified gasp from my colleague next to me who, unfortunately for her, happens to be a support main. I must admit though, I’d be nowhere without her throwing Moira’s biotic healing orbs.

It’s no secret that it’s not exactly the most popular class. Back when Overwatch 2 launched last year, players faced mass queues as no one actually wanted to play support, instead opting for tank or damage. Now, players are declaring support players to be ‘the worst’ once and for all. Well, sort of. They’re not talking about all support players. The issue mainly lies with DPS players.

Take a look at Overwatch 2 in action below.

If you’re unfamiliar with the inner workings of Overwatch 2, support players’ main purpose is to heal their teammates but they do also have damage attacks if needed. These damage attacks usually pail in comparison to actual damage class characters. If anything, they may just help you get out of a sticky situation if you’re cornered. You shouldn’t be on the frontlines of the battle wielding these average damage stats. That’s exactly what some players do though, ignoring the support part which is, shock horror, the entire point of the support class.

As reported by Dot Esports, Reddit user MuchUniform invited the discussion asking, “Which character do you think has the most insufferable mains?” User boss_nooch wrote, “One match supports actually refused to heal me, so when I stopped giving a f**k and started feeding to get the match over, the DPS had the audacity to get mad at me.” Juicy_Starfruit added, “I can’t even count how many times I had support that refused to heal me.”

Bleedblue_knetic added, “I see Anas [and] Moiras just tunnel visioned on hitting enemies while I’m on 50 HP right next to them hiding for five whole seconds. I’m also speaking in game asking for heals and getting completely ignored.” Oh dear. I sense a bit of dissonance in the player base.
