Nintendo Switch has a wild hidden feature we never knew about

Who wants to hear a clown horn?

The Nintendo Switch may be heading towards the end of its life span ahead of the Nintendo Switch 2 but that hasn’t stopped users from discovering a wild hidden feature.

Released back in 2017, the Nintendo Switch is the most recent Nintendo hardware that has been the home of some hit titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Check out the official trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild below!

However, with reports that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be arriving soon, it is almost time for us to say goodbye to the reliable handheld and get ready for its next iteration.

Until then, users can try out this handy little feature that many of us haven’t noticed over the Nintendo Switch’s 7-year lifespan.

The Nintendo Switch’s lock screen is pretty unremarkable on its own.

It acts as a way to save the handheld’s energy and can be bypassed by rapidly selecting the same three buttons.

When the Switch unlocks, it makes a pretty recognisable clicking sound but did you know that you could change this sound completely?

By inputting a different series of buttons, you can get different sounds. They are as follows:

  1. Press either the L or R shoulder buttons for a higher-pitch click.
  2. Press ZL (or the left trigger) for a click that sounds slightly different.
  3. Press ZR to hear a clown-like horn.
  4. Click in the left thumbstick for a more robotic-sounding honk
  5. Click the right stick to hear something like a "wah-eee" honking sound. Is it Mario? Maybe!

This is by no means a game-changing feature but just goes to show that we can never really know all there is to know about our hardware.

Not only that but it begs the question as to what we can expect from the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
