As reported by My Nintendo News, Nintendo have reportedly delayed a Direct showcase as a result of the sad passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II, who died yesterday at the age of 96.
The showcase was due to be held on 12 September, a few days from now, but according to industry insider Jeff Grub, Nintendo have chosen to delay the event. The event has yet to be officially confirmed so there is no public postponement notice.
Grubb wrote, “Nintendo never announced a Direct, so I get that if you're mad, you're going to be mad at me. That's the risk of this. I'll let you know more as I hear it. As far as I can tell, Nintendo has not said anything to third-party partners about a delay yet. But that wouldn't get sorted until NCL wakes up on Friday (a few hours from now). So I'm going to assume plans will change.”

My Nintendo News reported that some speculated the delay of the event was out of respect for The Queen, but the decision also likely takes into account the fact that the news coverage will be dedicated to Her Majesty for quite some time.
As with all rumours, this has to be taken with a pinch of salt as Nintendo industry insiders are unable to provide verified proof of the cancellation of the showcase. It wouldn’t mark the first time that Nintendo has cancelled a Direct. Previous editions were postponed due to COVID-19 and an earthquake that hit Hokkaido, Japan, in 2018.
