CD Projekt Red's rapid redemption arc continues with the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's new-gen edition, as it has swiftly soared to become one of the highest rated games of this year.
The developer took the saying "good things come to those who wait" literally, as the new-gen improvements were delayed from the start of 2022 in order to effectively meet expectations on the "scope of work to be done." Now that it's out in the wild (and free for all current owners of the game, might we mention), it's knocking the socks off everyone who has returned to the Continent for the umpteenth time. Don't worry, this is a safe space here to reveal that you've always saved Downwarren in your countless playthroughs of the game, in spite of the heavy consequences.

This upgrade is available for PC, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series consoles and is sitting at an enviable 97 on Metacritic using 12 reviews on the PS5 version. Or own Ewan Moore thought it was frankly criminal that the Complete Edition was a freebie for players given how much is improved between the 2015 and 2022 iterations of The Witcher 3.

The world now benefits from ray traced global illumination, ambient occlusion, 4K textures for characters like Geralt, Yennefer, Triss, Ciri, Eredin and more, photo mode, and players can select ray tracing mode, performance mode, or quality mode depending on their platform. Furthermore, the game integrated modes like The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project, HD Monsters Reworked, Immersive Real-time Cutscenes, World Map Fixes and other community favourites to breathe brand new life into this beloved game. That list hardly scratches the surface of what's been added but we'll certainly be coming back to the Continent over the Christmas holidays.
