In case you were unaware, a brand new Ghostbusters game is in the works. Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is a 4v1 title - you can either team up with your fellow Ghostbusters and work together to take down a Ghost, or be the Ghost yourself, and terrify all the poor, unsuspecting citizens in your wake.
Take a look at the trailer for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed below.
Until very recently, the multiplayer spookfest hadn’t been given a release date, aside from a vague window of Q4 2022, but now, as reported by IGN, developers IllFonic have confirmed that the title will be coming out sooner than expected, and at a very appropriate time of year.

“The reaction from fans of Ghostbusters has blown us away,” IllFonic’s CEO, Charles Brungardt said. “Putting a date on and opening up preorders for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed feels like an out of body experience, and we cannot wait for everyone to feel the same sensation on Tuesday, October 18.”
That’s right, it’s coming out just in time for Halloween. So, if you’re anything like me and don’t have the guts to tackle horror games, this could be a really good option for some lighthearted, ghostly fun during spooky season.
Hopefully, it’ll meet fans’ expectations - the last Ghostbusters game to release (which wasn’t a mobile game) was the infamous Ghostbusters (2016), which was quite widely considered to be one of the worst games that released in 2016. That one was made by a different dev team though, so it doesn’t mean that Spirits Unleashed will follow suit.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X/S and the Epic Games Store in just two months’ time.
