It’s been a hot minute since the release of, well, literally anything Silent Hill related. The most recent release of any kind was for P.T. in 2014 - the playable teaser for the since cancelled title, Silent Hills. This has now been pulled from the PlayStation Store, too, so it’s not like anyone can download it now anyway.
As reported by VGC though, our Silent Hill-less lives could be about to change pretty drastically. In a recent interview with French site Movie and Game, the director of the 2006 movie Silent Hill, Christophe Gans, claimed that there are a number of new games in development. That’s according to a translation via ResetEra (which was verified by GAMINGbible’s very own Imogen).
While you're here, check out this incredible fan-made Silent Hill remake below.
“I’m working with the Silent Team, the original creators at Konami, there are several games in development as we speak, there are several teams on it, with a big line of games, they will revive the franchise, I think they were really impressed [by] the success of the remakes of Resident Evil that are evidently exceptional games,” Gans said, praising the recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3.

He reiterated that there are apparently “multiple” new games in the works, which is certainly an exciting prospect. As VGC writes, however, there have been a number of rumours circulating in recent months suggesting that there are several new games coming, so it’s not known if Gans may simply be repeating these claims rather than delivering ‘insider’ knowledge.
It might not be too long before we find out that a new game is happening, anyway. Last month, a game titled Silent Hill: The Short Message received a rating by the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea. This title hasn’t been officially announced yet, but it certainly seems that it could be soon - we’ll just have to sit tight and see what happens.
