Andrii Korzinkin, a developer who worked on Metro Exodus at 4A Games, has been reportedly killed in a "combat mission" against Russian soldiers in Ukraine.
The announcement came from gameplay designer Leonid Stepanov, who used to work with Korzinkin, on Twitter. "Andrii 'Nizrok' Korzinkin (@korzinkin_3d) died while performing a combat mission in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," said Stepanov. "A talented animator, incredible person and real hero. Rest in peace, friend. We all miss you."
Korzinkin cited Cory Barlog as an inspiration as the acclaimed game director and writer also started out in animation. Consequently, he strove to constantly improve and diversify his skills to "create the project of his dreams."
Colleagues and friends have spoken about their cherished memories of Korzinkin, describing him as a cheerful, extremely gifted and warm-hearted individual.

"It's sad and painful to realize that when I visit the 4A gang again, I won't be greeted with a smile and hug from Andrii. I want to deceive myself into thinking that he just went somewhere overseas to make cool animations for Activision or Naughty Dog," said one.
"Andrii was a wonderful person and an extraordinary professional. This is not a formality, but the pure truth," concluded another.
In other news, Russian rapper walkie died after refusing to be drafted to fight in the invasion that has been raging since February. “I can’t take the sin of murder on my soul and I don’t want to. I am not ready to kill for any ideals," he said in his final message. "To murder someone in war or otherwise is something I cannot do. Forgive me, my loved ones.” Our thoughts are with those who have lost their family and friends in the Russo-Ukrainian War.
