At long last, the wait for Metal Gear Solid 3’s rumoured remake may almost be over.
Not a year has gone by in recent times where there’s not been at least a few insiders claim that remakes or remasters of the older Metal Gear Solid games are on the way. At this point, it feels like everyone’s just accepted that they’re happening, even though Konami has remained totally tight-lipped about the matter.

Apparently, that silence may soon be over. As GameSpot reports, in yesterday’s episode of VGC: A Video Game Podcast, VGC’s editor, Andy Robinson, claimed that “Konami is going to have a pretty big E3”, and noted that the company is currently “reviving all of their IPs” and “opening up to collaborating with more developers”.

“I'm pretty sure they’ll have an E3 booth, and they'll probably […] hold a lot of this stuff at a press conference as a platform holder,” he said. “There's a new Castlevania in addition to the Dead Cells DLC that they announced at The Game Awards. So that is the furthest along I've been told. And of course there’s this much-discussed Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, which I also expect them to finally show.
“The thing that’s less clear is what they’re gonna do with these older Metal Gear games that everyone’s really desperate to see come back to storefronts, so we can all play again on modern platforms,” he continued. “As of like a year, two years ago, that was in the plans. It’s less clear now what they’re gonna do with that. I understand that there’s some debate about the way that they should approach that, and I would imagine that Metal Gear Solid 3, the remake, is gonna be somewhat of a testbed for that.”
As always, with any unofficial information, be sure to take this with a pinch of salt, but it sounds like this could be a very exciting year for Metal Gear fans.
