Gamers love a good zombie game, and it’s fair to say that we’ve never been struggling for choice. This year alone, we’ve had Dying Light 2: Stay Human and The Last of Us Part I to stick our teeth into (heh), and we finally have Dead Island 2 right around the corner, which feels so strange to write after all the years we've been waiting for it.
As reported by Kotaku, one indie game dev team’s debut title, Blight: Survival, might just have the potential to blow all those out of the water. The four-player co-op describes itself as an “action-horror roguelite set in the unforgiving no man’s land between two desperate states at a ceaseless war”, which sounds pretty intense, and it looks even more so.
Check out some gameplay footage from Blight: Survival right here - be warned, it’s pretty graphic.
The game is set in an alternate 14th century, in which “a new strain Blight has sprung from remains of the dead”. This Blight is, as you’d expect, what’s turning people into zombie-like monsters. Players will be able to choose from a huge variety of different weapons to fight through the hordes of enemies, and explore a massive world which is apparently “filled with secrets and plenty of coin”.

As I’m sure you’ll have gathered from the video, developers Haenir Studio have not held back whatsoever when it comes to making this title as brutal as possible. To say that the current gameplay footage is from pre-alpha, it genuinely looks like it’s going to be great, and even more fun with friends, so we’ll have to look forward to its release.
Speaking of which, at the time of writing, Blight: Survival doesn’t have a confirmed release window, but if you’re interested, you can add it to your Steam wishlist right now.
