Mass Effect 3 features a very familiar location that most of us have never noticed

Who else missed this familiar sight?

Mass Effect 3 was considered as one of the best releases back in 2012 and despite hosting an impressive fanbase, many missed a familiar location that was shown during the game’s introduction.

Released over 10 years ago, Mass Effect 3 is the third and final instalment of the original Mass Effect trilogy which was praised for its art direction, characters, emotional depth, improved combat, soundtrack and voice acting just to name a few.

Check out the launch trailer for Mass Effect 2 below!

The official synopsis reads: “Earth is burning. The Reapers have taken over, and other civilisations are falling like dominoes. Lead the final fight to save humanity and take back Earth from these terrifying machines, Commander Shepard."

"You’ll need backup for these battles. Fortunately, the galaxy has a habit of sending unexpected species your way. Recruit team members and forge new alliances, but be prepared to say goodbye at any time as partners make the ultimate sacrifice.”

With the galaxy in peril, it is up to Commander Shepard to save it but the introduction to Mass Effect 3 did not shy away from the destruction already brought to the universe.

Showing the horrors of the war firsthand, an opening scene shows a city that would look quite familiar to some: Vancouver.

The Canadian skyline is shown for mere seconds at the start of the game but eagle-eyed fans noticed the familiar skyscape. Additionally, it is unsurprising that BioWare would include Vancouver considering the majority of its offices are based in Canada.

This is just one of many secrets found in the Mass Effect series over the years including a hidden pop culture reference, a secret ending and a heartbreaking love story many of us might have missed.

With Mass Effect 5 reportedly so far away that we might need a new console by the time it is released, it is worth heading back to the original trilogy if you miss the epic RPG series in the meantime.
