Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is receiving pretty much universal acclaim. Many are calling it a masterpiece and throwing superlatives around that are well deserved.
Some more praise has come in recently from a more unlikely source, Masahiro Sakurai, who is best know for creating Super Smash Bros for Nintendo.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has been hailed by many as a 'must-have' for PS5 owners
Sakurai took to Twitter to let his thoughts be known after finishing the latest Spider-Man game and Super Mario Wonder. After a quick translation, Sakurai called the PS5 exclusive "a masterpiece." To be fair, he said the same about Super Mario Bros Wonder, as well, and many would agree.

Both games have provided yet more choices for potential Game of the Year lists and have filled out a stellar year for gaming. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 receiving its flowers from such an esteemed developer has to feel good for Insomniac. Many would have seen the tweet and guessed the Nintendo developer would heap praise on Mario's latest adventure, but obviously Sakurai is a Spidey fan too.
Sakurai is likely enjoying these games in between handing off the latest Smash Bros and working on whatever is next for the veteran developer. Hopefully we'll hear some news about his next project soon. Before the success of the Smash series, Sakurai was best known for his work on Kid Icarus.
Sakurai is renowned for his hard work on Nintendo's beloved brawler and his time on Super Smash Bros Ultimate certainly paid dividends with the latest installment seeing over 89 crossover characters and a love from many of the fans.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is an absolute triumph for Insomniac and Sony, offering a blockbuster exclusive that not only showcases the brilliance of Insomniac's storytelling, but also the PlayStation 5 console itself. It could very well end up being a generation defining experience.
