Ahhh the elusive PlayStation 5. Some say trying to find one for a fair price is like catching the golden snitch in a game of Quidditch. Personally, I prefer the metaphor that it’s like trying to find something edible in my mum’s fridge that I don’t have to make from ingredients and wait 40 minutes for it to cook. JUST BUY CRISPS MUM.
Anyway. Those on the hunt for Sony’s current-gen (new-gen?) console are in luck, as it seems a restock might be just around the corner for those of us holding up in the UK.
To get you giddy on exactly why the PS5 is the must-have console for a big bunch of gamers right now, check out our review.
UK retailer GAME have recently updated their PS5 hub page to display that the console will be available to pre-order from (drumroll please) February 18th - just over a week and a half from time of writing. Huzzah! This will include both disc and digital editions so there should be something for everyone. Provided you can get your mitts on it, of course.

The news initially came from the Express, where they nodded toward the PS5 Stock Alert UK Twitter account as being a reliable source on all things stocky. With Sony facing the fact that the console is going to be difficult to get ahold of due to the ongoing global chip shortage (computer chips, that is, not chippy tea chips) now is as good a time as any to try your luck and see what happens.
Of course the last thing you’ll want to do is buy one of the consoles at an inflated price from a scalper. Since pretty much day one, ne’er-do-wells have been snapping up the machines via spurious methods with the intent being to sell them to desperate gamers and pocketing the profit for themselves. One has even had the audacity to suggest that they’re creating “young entrepreneurs” by giving scalpers the opportunity to act as the middle-man between retailers and customers. “What they're doing is they're being entrepreneurs,” they said. “They're going out, creating a side income, and they're doing something that 90% of the population can't be bothered to do.” Long way to say being a leech, but okay.
