Fans spotted Captain Jack Sparrow in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which seems to suggest that Disney is willing to welcome the character back. That being said, this version of notorious pirate likely isn't the one that fans were hoping for.
Earlier this year, during the defamation trial that Johnny Depp levied against actress Amber Heard for accusations of domestic abuse and assault in their marriage, he said that nothing could convince him to come back to the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Not even $300 million and a million alpacas, for some strange reason. The livestreamed trial was intensely controversial and a proportion of fans were shocked to see Captain Jack Sparrow in a projection onto the Magic Kingdom Castle at Disneyland Paris.
Even though Depp has severed ties with the films, he has stepped back into the shoes of the character in a conversation with a fan, and there are some who would like to see Captain Jack Sparrow return in a much more official capacity. If you were watching The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special closely, you will have spied the pirate among a crowd of performers pretending to be Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, Black Widow, Captain America and more.
It's a strange one as he's the only character in this troupe of cosplayers that isn't from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And, while the trial was concluded many months ago, this is the most recent association that the character has with potential audiences.

The sixth film in the Pirates of the Caribbean series is in the works however we haven't had an update since producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed that the script would soon be sorted in 2020. In any event, I wouldn't hold out hope for a proper return of Captain Jack Sparrow.
