"I'll teach the lot, and treat them just the same" is a motto that Hogwarts Legacy did not heed when it comes to the different quest lines that Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw protagonists embark on, because there's one who has been shortchanged.
Strangely enough, it's Hufflepuff that has the only quest that takes the player to Azkaban, though my money was on Slytherin. Hogwarts Legacy players are able to link their Harry Potter Fan Club and WB Games accounts to be sorted or they have the option of the official sorting process in the game (which is expectedly easy). The choice of house doesn't determine anything consequential in the overarching story but one of the things it does do is offer players different companions to bond with.
Here are the charming common rooms of Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw for your enjoyment:
Gryffindor students meet Natsai Onai, the daughter of Hogwarts' new Divination professor. Slytherin students get to grips with the lengths that Sebastian Sallow will go to to cure his sister of a curse. Hufflepuff students will warm to Poppy Sweeting, who struggles to relate to her peers but has an affinity with magical creatures. And, lastly, Ravenclaw students will be impressed with Amit Thakkar's expansive knowledge of celestial bodies, and though he doesn't have a specialty like the others, he unlocks Hogwarts Legacy's collectible Astronomy Tables.
Advert
All good? Well, if you scroll through the game's trophies you'll see that reaching max relationship with Natsai, Sebastian and Poppy pops a bronze trophy. There is no achievement for being friends with Amit though, which is rude.
The closest analogue is probably the Collector's Edition trophy which asks the player to complete all collections - stumbling upon every single scattered item to a total of 603. Best hop to it then.
On the whole, Hogwarts Legacy has been met with positive critical reviews, bar a few dated features, which shows that the controversies haven't have a huge impact. As a result, detractors are taking a different approach to express their disappointment with those playing the game, spoiling the game's story on social media.
