Across the globe, witches and wizards are diving into Hogwarts Legacy. Set in the 1800s, the Harry Potter prequel sees players star as a fifth-year student who has the rare ability of accessing ancient magic.
Hogwarts Legacy is by no means flawless. Players would like to see the introduction of house point and companion systems, plus it’s quite irritating that you can’t pause during cutscenes. There’s also the minor issue of the map and field guide taking forever to load. Regardless though, fans are branding Hogwarts as their favourite video game location of all time. Thanks to the attention to detail, some are even calling the title ‘GOTY material.’ I’m sure you’ve uncovered a couple of easter eggs already, but did you know that the game is hiding a touching tribute to the late Robbie Coltrane?
Enjoy an enchanting tour of Hogsmeade below.
Robbie Coltrane is, of course, fondly remembered by fans for bringing groundskeeper Rubeus Hagrid to life in the Harry Potter films. Sadly, the actor passed away late last year at the age of 72 following a battle with illness. As reported by The Loadout, as a mark of respect to the impact Coltrane had on the Wizarding World franchise, developers hid a small tribute to the actor in the game.

Located by TikTok user WhySoSirius, the tribute can be located near to the groundskeeper’s hut. If you’re on a broom, start near the Clock Tower Courtyard and travel south, towards the black lake. After a short distance, you’ll see the hut on the shoreline. Land and you’ll find a tombstone overlooking the lake. Engraved on the tombstone is Buckbeak, Hagrid’s trusty Hippogriff companion. There’s no wording on the stone as Hagrid and Buckbeak don’t exist yet within the timeline, but the engraving is a lovely and fitting tribute to the actor.
If you’re on the hunt for easter eggs, you can also locate the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets, a Polyjuice potion brewing in a bathroom stall, plus a nod to Ron’s rat Scabbers in the form of the Transfiguration icon. I’m sure we’ll be uncovering further secrets for weeks to come.
