Hogwarts Legacy is a solid enough game, although certainly not quite the comprehensive Wizarding World experience many fans were hoping it would be.
Given the sheer amount of expectation that rested on the Harry Potter RPG, it's perhaps unfair to slam Hogwarts Legacy for not being much more than pretty good. Fans certainly agree there's a lot the game got right, there's also been plenty of criticism levelled at missing features like Quidditch and, much more crucially, the issues around series creator J.K. Rowling and her harmful views in relation to the trans community.

But over on PC Hogwarts Legacy is getting all sorts of new features and mechanics that really overhaul the experience. There are smaller mods that fix minor annoyances, all the way through to much more ambitious multiplayer mods.

One mod that's definitely worth a look is the Hogwarts Legacy 'realism overhaul', a complete reworking of the game's visuals that improve textures and lighting to give the game a much more realistic look. Exactly what you want when exploring a world full of wizards and dragons.
While Hogwarts Legacy is by no means an ugly game, the work this mod does really is immediately noticeable. With just a few relatively simple tweaks the game becomes infinitely more immersive, and an absolute joy to look at. Just be aware that it might be too demanding for some PC setups, so mileage will vary depending on what hardware you're working with.

In other Harry Potter news, Hogwarts Legacy 2 was recently all but confirmed in a new job listing. We can assume the sequel will be exclusive to new-gen consoles and PC, which suggests a definite leap forward in graphics.
