Fans are in agreement that Hogwarts Legacy should get a Black Lake DLC (also known as the Great Lake), but will that ever happen? Only time will tell.
Known as the Black Lake in Hogwarts Legacy, the infamous large bed of water can be found to the south of Hogwarts Castle. The lake is said to be the home of many unique creatures such as a Giant Squid, a creepy village inhabited by Merpeople and much more.

The Black Lake has been a topic of discussion with Hogwarts Legacy fans on Reddit. “I am hoping the Black Lake is explorable in the sequel,” posted Redditor TaleOfDreams. “There’s so much potential to do some missions at the very least down there. Merpeople, aquatic creatures, the Giant Squid, etc.”

“A Black Lake DLC would be amazing. A Defense Against the Dark Arts type obstacle course (like what Lupin created) would also be the bomb,” agreed Unlucky-Dare4481.
Unfortunately, while it would be great to see substantial DLC in Hogwarts Legacy soon, whether it be the Black Lake or something else, that day is unlikely to be near. Back in February 2023, the game’s director Alan Tew stated that there are currently no plans to release DLC. “We’ve been really heads down bringing [Hogwarts Legacy] to life,” Tew told IGN. “So at the moment, there are no current plans for DLC.” Key word here is 'current'.
Another Reddit user believes that the Black Lake was perhaps even cut from the main game. “With the amount they cut, I bet this was an early chop in favour of diving spots,” said HBag. “I doubt they'll DLC it. Probably sequel.”

In related Hogwarts Legacy news, it has been revealed that the player count has dropped quite drastically since its initial launch. This is quite amazing to think about, considering that the Wizarding World action RPG had outsold the mighty Elden Ring in just five weeks. Hogwarts Legacy is out now for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It will then release on 5 May for PS4 and Xbox One, followed by Nintendo Switch on 25 July.
