Hard-working Hogwarts Legacy fans have already taken it upon themselves to fix the game’s lack of multiplayer, because if the devs won’t do it, why not just do it yourself?
The Wizarding World RPG has only been out of early access for four days, but it’s already the most successful Harry Potter game of all time. However, it’s not without its controversy - many have chosen to boycott Hogwarts Legacy due to its association with J.K. Rowling, who has been heavily criticised for making harmful comments about the trans community. As the creator of the Wizarding World franchise, she will profit from the game’s sales despite not being involved with its development.

Prior to release, many fans were disappointed to hear that Hogwarts Legacy would be a purely single-player experience, but that’s exactly where the talented modders of the world come into play. As PC Gamer reports, the team who created the Skyrim multiplayer mod, Together Reborn, are now working on a new mod called HogWarp. Although it’s obviously very early in development, the goal is to allow up to eight people to play together at once. Take a look below.
“Our aim is to figure out how to do the basics such as spawning characters with the player's appearance, animations and NPCs,” mod creator Yamashi told PC Gamer. “We are not going to create any multiplayer specific content ourselves, we want to provide a stable framework so that people can enjoy the vanilla game and maybe extend it themselves later on.”

If you want to try out the mod for yourself, you can. Subscribers to Yamashi’s Patreon can get access to a test build, although they warned that it’s very barebones right now. The team expect that full functionality will be “a few months” away.
