A job listing has appeared for Avalanche Software that seems to point to the possibility the studio is hard at work on the Hogwarts Legacy sequel.
Fans of the game have been crying out for news on DLC or a full sequel for months now. The first game sold incredibly well and garnered plenty of loyal fans, so a sequel seemed like a done deal.
Harry Potter will be back in Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions later this year
The job listing, originally spotted by Game Rant, details that the prospective candidate needs experience working on open-world RPGs or “action/magical combat games.”

It’s that last point that really makes this sound like preparation for the sequel. The listing doesn’t specify much more than that, but these job posts generally don’t due to secrecy and embargoed details.
Another line in the listing says, “Join the team behind the blockbuster open world, action RPG Hogwarts Legacy as we create what’s next.”
Now that’s not very specific, but you could read it as the team working on the next part in the franchise as that’s what would naturally come next.
It was previously leaked that a sequel had been greenlit back in September 2023, which seems right when Hogwarts Legacy sold over 24 million copies.

Other job listings from the studio also point to hiring for an “open-world RPG” and even need for staff who have experience with live-service games, which could mean the sequel features live-service elements.
Apparently Warner Bros didn’t learn from Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
While fans will be happy to get the Hogwarts Express hype train running, it’s worth noting this could all be part of preproduction, meaning we wouldn’t see the game until the late 2020s.
This could even be a game that borders this console generation and the next. However, Harry Potter fans will still be happy to return to that world.
