Few Hogwarts Legacy fans will be happy to read that headline, but all evidence points to live service being greenlit for the sequel.
Harry Potter fans had hoped against hope that live service wouldn’t infect the halls of Hogwarts due to it feeling so out of place for such a game.
They started online petitions to head Warner Bros off at the pass, as the saying goes.

Thousands of fans rallied to tackle the issue.
Sadly, it seems their attempts were in vain.
A new Harry Potter game is coming, and it looks incredible!
A recent job listing for a senior producer has been spotted online using wording that heavily hints at live service gameplay elements.

Part of the job spec states that the right candidate needs “a clear understanding of game project life cycles from concept start to closing the game including LIVE OPS.”
It’s the “live ops” bit that seemingly confirms future plans for the franchise.
The only comfort we can take from this job advertisement is that it says it’s for a “new open world, action RPG”.
Fans are praying that this is therefore referencing a new IP rather than the beloved Harry Potter one.

However, whether that’s the case remains to be seen.
This isn’t the only job available for the Hogwarts Legacy sequel; another listing has also been spotted.
We’re getting that second game, it just comes with a teensy tiny little catch...
Until it's officially confirmed, we can hang onto denial for dear life, which is what we intend to do by starting a new playthrough.

Should you return for another term at Hogwarts, you should check out these eight things you likely missed previously.
And if that isn’t enough to lift your spirits, this new Harry Potter gameplay footage will have you as hyped as the rest of the Hogwarts Legacy fandom.
Now, if Warner Bros could just ditch live service, we’d be delighted.
